Septic & Well Records Request - Click here
The Land Development Program oversees the construction, deepening and abandonment of domestic and monitoring wells. We do NOT permit agricultural, geothermal or irrigation wells; those are overseen by the Nevada Division of Water Resources.
Program Services
- Regulations of the Washoe County District Board of Health Governing Well Construction
- A well construction permit must be obtained from Northern Nevada Public Health to construct, drill, deepen, recondition or plug a well. All wells must be constructed by a driller who is licensed by the Nevada Division of Water Resources.
- Well construction permits can be applied for via our online permitting portal www.OneNV.us. Please refer to our Well Permitting Requirements (English) (Spanish) for the minimum requirements for all well construction permits. Additional items may be required based on site conditions.
- Well deepening or replacement permits will not be issued if a municipal water system is available to the property. Washoe County Community Services Department offers a financing program for residential property owners desiring to convert from private domestic wells to Truckee Meadows Water Authority’s municipal water system.
