Epidemiology and Public Health Preparedness
The Division of Epidemiology and Public Health Preparedness (EPHP) conducts disease surveillance and outbreak investigations, coordinates public health response to disasters with partner agencies, and provides training for the community on topics related to public health emergencies, such as bioterrorism and natural disasters. EPHP also provides oversight of Washoe County's Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and manages the Office of Vital Records.

Programs and Services
Epidemiology and Communicable Disease - The Epidemiology Program provides comprehensive epidemiology services for Washoe County residents to detect, investigate and respond to communicable diseases in order to reduce their incidence. The program also develops and integrates public health data available to Northern Nevada Public Health to better support the core functions of public health; assessment, policy development and assurance.
Public Health Preparedness - The Public Health Preparedness Program writes plans that will guide the Health District's response to public health emergencies, such as bioterrorism and natural disasters. In addition, the Program coordinates and participates in training's, drills and exercises to test those plans and increase the ability to respond to such emergencies.
Emergency Medical Services Oversight - The Emergency Medical Services Oversight Program was established by an interlocal agreement for the management, measurement and improvement of the EMS system in Washoe County.
Vital Statistics (Birth and Death Records) - The Vital Statistics Office serves as the registrar for all births and deaths occurring in Washoe County from the late 1800's to present.

Governing Boards
District Board of Health (DBOH)
The District Board of Health (DBOH), through Northern Nevada Public Health, has jurisdiction over all public health matters in the Health District.
