Filing a Complaint with the Air Quality Management Division (AQMD)

The Air Quality Management Division (AQMD) investigates complaints related to dust, smoke, asbestos, and other potential air quality permit and rule violations. 

Complaints can be filed by completing (THIS) form, or by calling the AQMD at (775) 784-7200 Option 1. 

When filing a complaint, please have the following information ready:

  • A specific description of the concern. Is it related to dust, smoke, asbestos, etc.?
  • For dust complaints, the Dust Control Permit Number if known (ex., APCPXX-XXXX).
  • The location of the concern, including the address and cross streets.
  • Who is causing the concern? (ex., company name, piece of equipment, etc.)
  • When is the concern occurring? Including the day(s) and time of day.
  • The duration and frequency of the concern.
  • Indicate if you would like to be contacted by the AQMD or remain anonymous. If you would like to be contacted, provide an email address or phone number.
