Northern Nevada Public Health Vaccine Preventable Disease Surveillance

Vaccines are one of the most reliable and effective tools available to prevent a wide range of diseases that can lead to serious, long-term health issues, hospitalizations, or even death. By safely stimulating the body's immune system, vaccines protect individuals and communities from dangerous infectious diseases. Northern Nevada Public Health (NNPH) works in close collaboration with federal, state, and local partners to ensure the health and well-being of Washoe County residents. Through surveillance, the Epidemiology program actively monitors vaccine-preventable diseases and swiftly responds to outbreaks, helps mitigate risks, and prevents further spread. NNPH is committed to safeguarding public health by promoting vaccination and responding effectively to emerging threats. NNPH’s Communicable Disease Summary Report displays counts of communicable diseases reported by year, and the weekly report highlights cases reported by week. Both can be accessed below. For more information on these reports contact the Epidemiology program at epicenter@nnph.org or call 775-328-2447.
